BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Kelly Fehr (Fr., Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) of Saint Francis University registered 14 goals and two assists for 16 points with 10 ejections drawn and 11 steals in a 2-3 weekend against George Washington University, Siena College, the Virginia Military Institute and Grove City College to garner recognition as the February 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
She opened the week with three goals as the Red Flash fell in their home opener to the Colonials of George Washington University, 10-7, on Friday, February 17.
At the Mercyhurst University Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, February 18-19, she racked up the remainder of her Rookie of the Week statistics by helping Saint Francis defeat Grove City College (14-5 W) and Siena College (10-9 W) to go along with losses to the Virginia Military Institute (17-11 L) and Gannon University (10-8 L).
Fehr finished with four goals, two assists and six steals against Grove City, added four goals and one drawn ejection versus VMI, drew six ejections with three steals facing Gannon and chipped in three goals with three drawn ejections and two steals in stopping Siena.
The award marks the first weekly honor from the league office in Fehr's intercollegiate career.
