Collegiate Water Polo Association Releases October 2/Week 4 Men's Varsity Polls; University of California-Los Angeles Stays at No. 1 in National Top 20

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The University of California-Los Angeles remains ranked No. 1 in the nation as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the October 2/Week 4 Men's Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10 and CWPA Top 10 Polls.

UCLA, which defeated the University of Southern California 9-8 two weeks ago to claim the No. 1 spot in the National Top 20 Poll for the first time since November 30, 2011, continues to reign on top of the rankings.  However, unlike last week in which the Bruins were a unanimous No. 1 selection with 100 points, UCLA drops down to 99 points this week with USC (94 points) and University of the Pacific (91 points) trailing in second and third place, respectively.

In the Division III Top 10 Poll, the University of Redlands holds on at No. 1 for another week with 96 points, four points in front of Johns Hopkins University (92 points).

Princeton University remains locked in at No. 1 in the CWPA Top 10 league poll as the Tigers garnered 100 points to rate as a unanimous top selection in front of St. Francis College Brooklyn (95 points) and George Washington University (89 points).

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
