2012 Men's Division III Eastern Championship Set for October 20-21 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The 2012 Men's Division III Eastern Championship will be held on Saturday-Sunday, October 20-21, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center in Cambridge, Mass.

The five team, eight-game tournament will bring together MIT, Connecticut College, Johns Hopkins University, Penn State Behrend and Washington & Jefferson College for the 21st title since the championship's inception prior to the 1992 season.

Defending 2011 champion Johns Hopkins will strive for its 14th championship as Johns Hopkins previously captured the 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 crowns. 

Overall, JHU has appeared in 20 Division III title games in the year history of the championship with losses in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2010.  The Blue Jays lone year of missing the championship game came in 2007, a season in which Johns Hopkins elected to not compete in the championship tournament.

Six-time champion MIT (1991, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010) will seek to end the Blue Jays' reign a top of the Division III ranks, while Connecticut, PSU-Behrend and W&J will aim for the programs' first championships in league history.

Seeding for the championship will be announced at a later date.
