Princeton University's Ben Dearborn Named October 17 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Princeton University goalie Ben Dearborn (So., Palo Alto, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) led his team to victories over No. 15 Bucknell University and No. 17 United States Naval Academy to claim the October 17 Men's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.

In a 3-0 weekend for the No. 16-ranked Tigers, Dearborn posted two steals and 32 saves with 17 goals allowed for a .653 save percentage in key Southern Division-East Region victories for Princeton.

On the road in Lewisburg, Pa. against Bucknell, Dearborn recorded 14 saves with eight goals against and a steal as the Tigers picked up a 9-8 OT win against the Bison.  The victory avenged a 10-6 loss to the Bison last weekend at home in New Jersey.

Following a 14-7 win versus Johns Hopkins University back home in the Garden State in which he did not appear, Dearborn concluded the weekend by tallying 18 saves with nine goals against and a steal in a 10-9 OT victory against Navy.  The win completes a regular season sweep by Princeton against Navy as the Tigers claimed an 11-9 OT win on September 24 in Annapolis.
