BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The University of Southern California, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and Princeton University top the national rankings as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) released the 2011 Men's Varsity Week 4/September 28 National Top 20, Division III Top 10 and CWPA Top 10 Polls.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2011 Men's Varsity National Top 20

The University of Southern California continues its reign at No. 1 in the Week 4/September 28 Men's Varsity National Top 20 poll.

USC, which claimed the 2010 NCAA Championship with a 12-10 overtime victory against the University of California-Berkeley, garnered 100 points to remain on top of standings after previously ranking at No. 1 in the preseason balloting and the past three weeks.

The Top Six positions in the poll remain unchanged as the University of California-Los Angeles (95 points), Stanford University (90 points), the University of California (90 points), Stanford University (85 points), Pepperdine University (79 points) and University of the Pacific (76 points) continue at No. 2-to-6, respectively.

The University of California-Irvine (69 points) and University of California-Santa Barbara (62 points) exchange spots at No. 7 and 8, while the University of California-Davis (60 points) remains at No. 9 and Concordia University (53 points) rises four positions to take over at No. 10.

Loyola Marymount University (51 points), the University of California-San Diego (47 points), Long Beach State University (41 points), Princeton University (36 points) and Santa Clara University (32 points) rate at No. 11-to-15 to begin the final 10 positions in the Top 20.

California Baptist University (23 points), the United States Naval Academy (15 points), Bucknell University (14 points) and St. Francis College (N.Y.) (12 points) moved around to hold down No. 16-to-19, while previously unranked Johns Hopkins University (4 points) joins Brown University (4 points) and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (4 points) in a three-way tie at No. 20

The United States Air Force Academy (3 points) also received points and barely missed cracking the Top 20.

2011 Men's Varsity Division III Top 10

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (99 points) continue at No. 1 in the Week 4/September 28 Men's Varsity Division III National Top 10 poll.

The Sagehens, who took over at No. 1 from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges last week, increased its lead in the rankings from a single point in Week 3 balloting to six points in the Week 4 poll.

CMS (93 points) remains at No. 2, two points in front of Johns Hopkins University (91 points), which used victories over Bucknell University and Princeton University to improve from the No. 4 spot in the September 21 poll.

The University of Redlands (85 points) drops back to No. 4, while California Lutheran University (80 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (72 points) remain at No. 5 and 6, respectively.

Positions No. 7-to-10 also underwent changes as Chapman University (70 points) and Whittier College (69 points) exchanged the No. 7 and 8 berths.  University of La Verne (59 points) and Occidental College (46 points) complete the September 28 Top 10.

Washington & Jefferson College (11 points) also received votes in this week's poll.

2011 Men's Varsity CWPA Top 10

Although the Tigers suffered a loss last week, Princeton University remains in the top position in the Week 4/September 28 Men's Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Poll.

Princeton, which went 2-1 over the weekend with a loss at Johns Hopkins University (11-10 L) and victories at the United States Naval Academy (11-9 W OT) and George Washington University (14-8 W), picked up 100 points to rate as the unanimous top selection in the league for another week.

Due to the Southern Division-East Region competition last week, the Top 10 poll underwent radical changes.

Formerly No. 4-ranked St. Francis College (N.Y.) (88 points) and Bucknell University (87 points) rise to No. 2 and 3, respectively.  The 2010 CWPA Eastern Champion Terriers finished 2-0 in Northern Division play, defeating Connecticut College (21-3 W) and Brown University (16-7 W), while the Bison finished 2-1 at Navy (10-9 W), Johns Hopkins (11-9 L OT) and George Washington (10-8 W).

Navy (85 points), which finished 0-2 over the weekend with losses to Princeton and Bucknell, remains in the Top Five at No. 4, with Southern Division-East Region foe Johns Hopkins (84 points) one point behind the Midshipmen.

Brown University (81 points), which fell to St. Francis, slides back three positions to No. 6, with the Massachusettts Institute of Technology (54 points), a 12-11 victor over Iona College, moving up to No. 7.

George Washington University (50 points), which finished 1-2 during the weekend with a victory over Johns Hopkins (14-13 W) and losses to Princeton and Bucknell, jumps up to No. 8.

Fordham University, which received votes in the September 21 balloting, cracks the Top 10 at No. 9 in the wake of victories against MIT (10-9 W OT) and Harvard University (10-9 W) at home in the Bronx.

Iona (39 points), which was ranked ninth a week ago, drops back to the final position in the Top 10.

Harvard (36 points) and Mercyhurst College (35 points)  also received votes, but missed out on earning a league ranking.
