BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Matt Weber (Fr., Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) of No. 14 Princeton University tallied five goals at the North-vs.-South Tournament to earn the September 19 Men's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.
He is the second Princeton player in as many weeks to garner the award joining September 12 Player and Rookie of the Week Kayj Shannon (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake).
In a 3-0 weekend for the Tigers, he tossed in two goals on four shots with an ejection drawn versus Iona College (15-4 W), tacked on a goal with an assist and a steal against Connecticut College (16-3 W) and registered two goals on four shots versus Fordham University (13-6 W) as Princeton improved to 8-0 on the year.
The Tigers' start is the program's best since the 2004 team opened its season with 10 consecutive wins on the way to capturing the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship.
