Notre Dame College Overpowers Penn State Behrend 19-12 in Southern Division-West Region Play
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Pennsylvania State University-Behrend College men's water polo team fell to host Notre Dame College by a 19-12 final in Southern Division-West Region action. The Lions scored a season high 12 goals but came up short against the Falcons in a rematch of the September 9 meeting at Behrend.
Wes Atkinson (Camarillo, Calif./Rio Mesa) led the way for the Lions by scoring a career high five goals to increase his season total to 13. Nic Pabich (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) also netted a hat trick for Behrend.
The Falcons held a 9-4 halftime lead before pushing the score to 15-6. As the final period began, the Lions came out strong. Behrend outscored Notre Dame 6-4 in the last period but the comeback fell just short.
Jake Salsgiver (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson Classical) and Justin Vink (Los Angeles, Calif./Granada Hills Charter) also contributed with a goal apiece. Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) continued his strong play, making 17 saves and tallying seven steals.
