BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- 138 student-athletes were named to the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Women's Varsity Scholar-Athlete Team for their athletic and academic performance during the women's water polo season.

Previously named the All-Academic Team, the program honors student-athletes who have achieved grade point averages of 3.2 or higher and competed during the season.

Overall, 32 varsity athletes earned Outstanding (3.71-4.00), 56 garnered Superior (3.41-3.70) and 50 received Excellent (3.20-3.40) honors.

Among varsity teams that submitted information for honors, Harvard University posted the highest team grade point average at 3.507, while Connecticut College (3.45) and Macalester College (3.40) also broke the 3.4 plane.  Mercyhurst University (3.34), Washington & Jefferson College (3.27), Hartwick College (3.21), Gannon University (3.20), Pennsylvania State University-Behrend (3.18), Indiana University (3.18), Brown University (3.15), Bucknell University (3.14), George Washington University (3.14), Notre Dame College (3.06) and Utica College (3.00) exceeded or equaled a 3.0 GPA, with Princeton University (2.99) and Grove City College (2.93) rounding out the 16 squads that posted 2.75 or higher GPAs to receive league honors.

In individual awards, Harvard recorded the most honors with 12 (two Outstanding, five Superior, five Excellent), followed by Connecticut College (four Outstanding, three Superior, four Excellent) as the Crimson and Camels were the only teams to notch 10 or more nods.  Brown (three Outstanding, four Superior, two Excellent), Bucknell (two Outstanding, two Superior, five Excellent), Indiana (three Outstanding, three Superior, three Excellent) and the University of Maryland (two Outstanding, four Superior, three Excellent) posted nine, with Macalester (one Outstanding, five Superior, two Excellent), Mercyhurst (two Outstanding, two Superior, three Excellent), Gannon (four Outstanding, two Superior, two Excellent) and Princeton (four Superior, four Excellent) tallying eight.

George Washington (two Outstanding, four Superior, four Excellent), Utica (two Superior, five Excellent) and Washington & Jefferson (four Outstanding, two Superior, one Excellent), Grove City (four Superior, two Excellent), Michigan (four Superior, two Excellent), Hartwick (one Outstanding, one Superior, three Excellent), Notre Dame (one Outstanding, two Superior, two Excellent) and PSU-Behrend (one Outstanding, three Superior, one Excellent) complete the recognized programs.
