Mercyhurst University Falls to Brown University, 11-3, & Harvard University, 12-3, on Day One of Southern Division Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst University women's water polo team lost twice at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Championships Saturday. The Lakers lost to Harvard University, 12-3, in their first match and then dropped, 11-3, to Brown University. Senior goalie Hope Rozelle became the school's career saves leader in the first game.

Against the Crimson, Mercyhurst fell behind, 4-0, after one quarter and 6-1 at the half. Another four Harvard scores in the third period sealed the decision.

Lisett Calderon, Allie Grimes and Laura Perez each scored a goal for the Lakers. Perez also had three drawn ejections. Rozelle totaled 14 saves.

In the matchup with Brown, the Lakers were tied after one period, but trailed, 5-1, at halftime. Brown scored five more goals in the third frame to pull away.

Calderon, Trish Armstrong and Kimberly Goodhart each scored for Mercyhurst. Rozelle made 13 saves and four steals in net. She now has 924 career saves, passing Gina Mieras for first on the all-time list.
