No. 12 Princeton University Rallies to Edge George Washington, 13-9, in CWPA Southern Division Showdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A seven goal second quarter propelled the No. 12 Princeton University women's water polo team to a 13-9 victory at Southern Division rival George Washington University.
Thirty-three seconds into the game Saranna Soroka notched the first of her three goals to give Princeton a 1-0 lead. The Tigers quick advantage was countered by three George Washington goals, as the Colonials held a 4-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
Katie Rigler tallied three goals in the second, headlining the Tigers' 7-1 rally to take control of the game. She scored a team-high four goals in the contest.
The Tigers and Colonials both added four goals over the final two quarters of play.
In the cage, Kristen Ward had 12 saves and Katlin Poladian had a save in sub minutes in the fourth quarter. The Princeton defense also tallied eight steals, with Camille Hooks, Rigler and Soroka each grabbing a pair apiece.
Freshman Taylor Dunstan won all four sprints, made two assists, a steal and an ejection drawn. Classmate Jessie Holechek and sophomore Molly McBee scored two goals, and Kelly Gross and Audrey Zak each added lone goals in the fourth and second quarters, respectively.
