Carthage College Cut Down by Connecticut College, 8-7, and Handles Wheaton College, 12-8, on Day One of CWPA Division III East-vs.-West Tournament
WHEATON, Ill. -- Carthage College fell to Connecticut College, 8-7, and managed host Wheaton College, 12-8, at Wheaton's Chrouser Fitness Center Pool in Wheaton, Ill. on Day One of CWPA Division III East-vs.-West Tournament.
In the win over Wheaton, the Lady Reds took a 6-3 lead at halftime and out-scored the Thunder, 9-2, in the second half. Mari Paraskevopoulos (Sr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) had three goals, three assists and four steals. Jackie Knightly (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) had three goals and two steals, Tya Crosse (Fr., Corona, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) two goals and two steals, Amanda Kuchan (So., Orland Park, Ill./Tinley Park-Andrew) a goal with two assists and two steals, and Kati Pedersen (Sr., Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) collected four steals. Goalkeeper Ashley McGhee (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) had 14 saves on 22 shots.
In the loss to Connecticut, Kuchan had two goals and two assists, while Pedersen chipped in two goals and one assist. Paraskevopoulos and Agnes Wojtas (Jr., Palatine, Ill./Palatine) had a goal and an assist apiece, with Wojtas collecting three steals.
