University of Michigan's Meagan Cobb Named March 19 Western Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Meagan Cobb (Sr., Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) of the No. 13-ranked University of Michigan Wolverines scored 11 goals, including a hat-trick versus California Lutheran University, with seven assists, 18 steals, a kickout drawn and a field block at the Michigan Wolverine Invitational to earn the March 19 Women's Varsity Western Division Player of the Week award.
Playing at home, she aided the Maize & Blue in defeating Salem International University (13-0) in a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division league game before the team rolled past Gannon University (11-2 W), Division III-No. 4 California Lutheran University (15-3 W), Siena College (14-4 W), Concordia University (14-9 W) and Mercyhurst College (14-2 W) in a 6-0 week.
Her best game of the weekend came versus Cal Lutheran as she deposited four goals into the back of the cage as part of a 12-goal victory. She added five steals and three assists versus Siena, and wrapped the weekend up by keying the Wolverines' defense with four steals against Mercyhurst.
The award marks the eighth weekly honor of her career as she previously a pair of Western Division Player of the Week honors (March 14, March 28) last season after taking five nods during the 2009 season earning the January 26, March 16, April 20 and April 27 Rookie of the Week and March 30 Player of the Week awards.
