University of Michigan's Kelsey Nolan Tabbed as the February 6 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Kelsey Nolan (So., San Jose, Calif. / Leland) of the No. 12-ranked University of Michigan amassed 10 steals and six field blocks to earn the February 6 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week honor. She helped the Wolverines place seventh at the Stanford Invitational.
Nolan was busy on defense at Santa Clara University (W, 12-5), posting two steals, three field blocks, a goal and two assists in the contest. She posted multi-steal games against some of the stiffest competition in the nation, posting two steals in agains No. 2 University of California-Berkeley (L, 8-7), No. 10-ranked University of Hawaii (L, 7-5), and No. 4-ranked University of California-Los Angeles Bruins (L, 10-3). The sophomore put a bookend on the weekend with her second three-point contest of the weekend and added her sixth field block against No. 14-ranked University of California-Davis (W, 7-5).
Nolan was previously the Western Division Rookie of the Week on February 1, 2011.
