University of Michigan's Kiki Golden Scores the February 6 Western Division Player of the Week Award
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Kiki Golden (Jr., Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) of No. 12-ranked University of Michigan compiled 10 goals, seven assists, eight steals, four kickouts-drawn and a pair of field blocks to earn honors as the February 6 Women's Varsity Western Division Player of the Week.
Golden had multiple points in each of Michigan's five contests as the Wolverines placed seventh at the Stanford Invitational.
Golden opened the weekend with a three-point showing at Santa Clara University (W, 12-5). She spearheaded the Michigan effort against No. 2 University of California-Berkeley (L, 8-7), recording a hat trick as part of a four-point game against the Bears. The junior All-America continued her strong play against No. 10-ranked University of Hawaii (L, 7-5), tallying two points, two steals and drawing a penalty shot. Against the fourth-ranked University of California-Los Angeles Bruins (L, 10-3), Golden tallied a goal, two assists and a pair of steals. She wrapped up the weekend with two goals, an assist, two kickouts-drawn and two field blocks in a winning effort against No. 14-ranked University of California-Davis (W, 7-5).
The honor marks the second top billing of Golden's career as she was the CWPA Western Division co-Player of the Week on April 13, 2011. Golden has also earned two CWPA Western Division Defensive Player of the Week awards and was named top rookie three times during her freshman year in 2010.
