CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Two top-five championship finishes, multiple player-of-the-week awards and the most wins in a season since 2007 – quite a year for first-year head coach Ted Minnis and the Harvard University men's water polo team in 2010.

The Crimson finished the year 12-16 for its most victories since notching 14 in 2007. The team finished third at the first Ivy Championship that hosted all Ancient Eight schools, and ended the year with a fifth-place finish at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division Championship, matching its finish from a year ago.

The team was led all season long by its three seniors: Jeff Lee, Alex Thompson and co-captain Bret Voith. A fourth senior, Eric Taylor, was added later in the season and helped the team in a big way down the stretch when injuries limited the roster.

Lee, Thompson and Voith led the team statistically all season long. Lee and Voith ended the year with the team lead in goals at 38 apiece. Thompson was third on the team with 34. Thompson took charge of the defense by leading the team with 49 steals and earning CWPA North Division Player of the Week honors Sept. 8. Voith was the team's only 30-30-30 player with 38 scores, 31 assists and 32 steals. For his efforts, Voith was tabbed CWPA North Division Player of the Week Oct. 13 and Harvard COOP Athlete of the Week Sept. 14, and at season's end was named to the CWPA All-North Division second team.

Returners are plentiful for the Crimson next season, including 2010 co-captain Luka Babic, who finished the year with 32 goals, 24 assists and 32 steals. Junior Kevin DiSilvestro will also be back after earning the team's 2010 Most Improved Player award by finishing with 14 goals, four assists and five steals in the final six games of the season. He would finish fifth on the team in goals scored (29) and fifth in assists (17). Junior goalie Alexandre Popp notched 230 saves in 2010 and will make a return next year as well.
