Collegiate Water Polo Association Releases 2011 Men's Varsity Southern Division-West Region Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announces the schedule of games for the upcoming 2011 Men's Varsity Southern Division-West Region season.
One half of the league's 11-team Southern Division, the West Region is comprised of Gannon University, Mercyhurst College, Salem International University, Pennsylvania State University-Behrend College, Washington & Jefferson College and new CWPA member Notre Dame College (Ohio).
League competition will begin on September 9-11 in Erie as Penn State-Behrend, Mercyhurst and Gannon will combine to host nine games before concluding on October 15-16 with a pair of games at Washington & Jefferson.
Following the regular season, the Golden Knights, Lakers, Fighting Tigers, Behrend Lions, Presidents and Falcons will travel to Princeton University on November 4-6 to meet the Eastern Division institutions of the United States Naval Academy, Princeton, Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University and Bucknell University to decide the Southern Division Championship. The top four finishers at the division championship advance to the eight-team Eastern Championship.
Tentatively, Harvard University is slated to host the championship on November 18-20 pending approval of the institution's championship bid package.
