Harvard University's Devan Kennifer Named April 11 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Harvard University's Devan Kennifer (Jr., Monterey, Calif./Santa Catalina) tallied seven steals to go along with eight goals and three assists in games versus No. 6 University of Michigan, No. 18 Princeton University and Bucknell University to claim the April 11 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.

Competing at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium for all three games, she posted a goal, an assist and a steal in an 11-5 Southern Division loss to Princeton, before responding with three goals, an assist and four steals in a 16-13 shoot-out with the host Bison.

The victory over Bucknell will pay dividends down the road when the 2011 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship at Indiana University on April 29-May 1 is seeded as it should guarantee the Crimson at least the No. 8 seed in the championship field.

Facing Michigan in a 13-10 loss, Kennifer registered four goals, an assist and two steals to key Harvard to a near upset of the No. 6-ranked Wolverines and wrap-up the weekend with a pair of hat-tricks and multi-steal performances.
