2011 Women's National Polls to be Released on January 12-13
BRIDGEPORT, PA. -- After nearly eight months of waiting since the conclustion of the 2010 season, the 2011 Women's National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Top 10 and CWPA Division III Top Five Preseason Polls are set for release on Wednesday, January 12. In addition, the Women's National Collegiate Club Top 20 Preseason Poll is slated for release on Thursday, January 13.
Will defending National Champion the University of Southern California earn the No. 1 ranking in the preseason in the National Varsity Top 20 poll, or will the University of California-Los Angeles, Stanford University or the University of California jump into the top spot? Can Pomona-Pitzer Colleges hang on as the top pick in the National Division III poll, or will California Lutheran University or Occidental College take over as the preseason favorite to claim the Division III Championship?
In the Collegiate Water Polo Association, will the University of Michigan continue its death-hold grip on the No. 1 ranking in the CWPA Division I poll, or can the Universty of Indiana, Hartwick College or Princeton University take the early lead in the conference race? Further, which team is the early favorite in the league's Division III race as Carthage College edged out Grove City College 98-to-97 in the final 2010 poll?
Finally, which team will enter the National Collegiate Club season at No. 1? Defending national champion California Polytechnic State University, Michigan, the University of California-Santa Cruz, UCLA and the University of Oregon all finished in the Top Five at the 2010 National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Arizona, but are the Mustangs, Wolverines, Banana Slugs, Bruins and Ducks the best-of-the-best entering this season?
