CLINTON, N.Y. --Thomas Youngblood (Jr., South Kent, Conn.) scored four times to garner Player of the Game accolades as Hamilton College took down New York University 11-9 in the fifth place game of the 2011 Men's Division III Collegiate Club Championship at home in Bristol Pool.

The game marked the third meeting of the season in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) action between the two programs as NYU defeated Hamilton 9-7 on September 24 at RPI and stopped the Continentals 11-7 in the opening round of the New York Division Championship on October 22 at Colgate University.

This time, the Continentals marched out to a 3-0 lead in the first period behind markers by Youngblood, Reuben Dizengoff (Fr., New York, N.Y.) and Taylor Hogenkamp (Jr., East Aurora, N.Y.) at 6:09, 2:24 and 1:52, respectivley, to take an early three goal advantage.

NYU responeded to the scoring spurt with a natural strike by Will Havercroft (Fr., Newport Beach, Calif.) at 1:21 and a man-up tally by Huba Harskuti (Sr., Szentendre, Hungary) with 41 seconds remaining in the first period to pull to within one at 3-2.

However, Hamilton refused to relinquish the lead by cushioning the margin with another goal by Hogenkamp at 6:43 and a man-up marker by Youngblood at 6:11 in the second period to rebuild the margin to three at 5-2.

Again, the Bobcats clawed their way back into the game with a man-up goal by Harry Oppenheimer (So., Pelham, N.Y.) and an even-strength score by T. Hartswell with 47 seconds remaining in the period to set the score at 5-4 by halftime.

NYU tied the game thirty seconds into the second half when Havercroft broke loose for another man-up goal at 6:30, but Hamilton countered with back-to-back-to-back scores.

Youngblood accounted for two-thirds of the run by depositing the ball into the cage with a laser-like drive to the cage on an exclusion opportunity at 6:03 and via a spinning lob at 5:16 to make it a 7-5 game.  Conor Collins (So., Brookfield, Conn.) launched a skip shot that was stopped by only the mesh netting of the cage at 4:32 to return a three-goal lead to the Continentals and put NYU on the ropes.

Once again, NYU answered the bell thanks to a natural marker by Havercroft (2:34) and a man-up goal from Ben Mormann (So., Columbia, Md.) to inch back to within a goal at 8-7 through three periods of play.

Needing insurance to stave off New York's comeback try, the Continentals turned to Hogenkamp who completed a hat-trick with a sweeping backhand at the five-minute mark to make it a two goal game, but NYU responded in kind with a man-up tally from Ian Farrell (So., Los Angeles, Calif.) at 5:30 to keep the pressure on Hamilton.

Relief finally came in the form of Nicholas Ruppel's (Fr., Greenwich, Conn.) arm as he flipped home a man-up score at 4:07 before Younblood swept a ball across the goal plane at 2:59 to provide the winning margin and an insurance goal.

NYU attempted to rally one final timeas Havercroft tried to single-handidly bring his squad back, but his fourth goal of the day with 2:19 to go was all the Bobcats could muster down the stretch in falling 11-9.

In cage, Graham Boyd (So., Sudbury, Mass.) earned the win by recording six saves, while Louis Hamwey (Gr., San Diego, Calif.) took the loss with nine stops.
