No. 6 Oregon Ducks Fly Past North Carolina 13-4 to Earn Spot in National Collegiate Club Ninth Place Game

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Harrison Tingler (Fr., Newport, Calif.) and Aaron Bishow (So., Eugene, Ore.) combined for seven goals to share Player of the Game honors as the No. 6 nationally ranked Ducks of Oregon staved off the University of North Carolina for a 13-4 victory at the Southern Utah Universityand a berth in the National Collegiate Club Championship ninth place game.

Oregon advances to a 2:15 p.m. meeting on Sunday, November 14 with either No. 13 Grand Valley State University or No. 15 the University of Pennsylvania for ninth place in the 16-team field, while UNC will meet the loser of the GVSU-Penn game at 3:30 p.m. in the 11th place and final contest of the 30-game National Collegiate Club Chamjpionship tournament.

Facing the Tarheels, the Ducks received scoring form six different players as Conor Broom (Sr., Redwood, Calif.) and Travis Bishop (Sr., Ashland, Ore.) chipped in pairs of markers, while Taylor Herman (Jr., San Ramon, Calif.) and Matthew Sillaman (Sr., Riverside, Calif.) flipped in solo scores to account for Oregon's 13 goals.

North Carolina never led in the game as Oregon opened up a 3-0 lead midway through the first period, saw the lead dwindle down to 3-2 in the opening moments of the second period and ripped off a 4-1 scoring run to the halftime horn to carry a 7-3 lead into the second half of the game.

The Tarheels were unable to recover from the second period scoring deluge as the Ducks' defense locked down in the second half to only permit a cage-rattler by Marty Schoen on a man-up chance with 1:45 left in the third period to cruise to the nine-goal victory.

Shoen was joined by Nicholas Marsden (Sr., Carlsbad, Calif.), Danny Trotier (Fr., Columbus, Ohio) and Kenneth Bryan (Gr., Mt. Pleasant, N.C.) in the scoring column for North Carolina.

Guarding the iron, Steve Sinclair (Fr., Manhattan Beach, Calif.) registered 10 saves with Oregon's Anthony Nuccio (Jr., Capistrano, Calif.) posting six blocks.
