No. 2 UCLA Gets by No. 17 Yale 15-7 to Reach National Collegiate Club Championship Semifinals

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- No. 2-nationally ranked the University of California-Los Angeles received goals from nine players as the Bruins knocked off No. 17 Yale University 15-7 to reach the semifinals of the 2010 Men's National Collegiate Club Championship at Southern Utah University.
UCLA will next be in action at 6:20 p.m. this evening in the a semifinal showdown versus the winner of a quarterfinal between No. 2 Michigan State University and No. 8 Lindenwood University. Yale falls into the consolation bracket as the Bulldogs will meet the loser of the Lindenwood-MSU game at 4:00 p.m. with a berth in the fifth place game on the line.
The Bruins never trailed in the game opening up a 3-0 lead as Max Scott (Jr., La Canada Flintridge, Calif.) and Player of the Game Cameron Virjee (Jr., Rolling Hills, Calif.) scored natural goals at 6:05 and 2:29 respectively, before Virjee buried a man-up chance with 54 seconds on the clock. Yale pulled back to within a pair before the end of the period as Paul Orland (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) netted an advantage goal with 20 seconds to go to make it 3-1.
Yale and UCLA traded goals in the second period to set the score at 6-4 in favor of the Bruins at halftime.
However, the defending national champion proved their mettle in the third period putting up six goals to the Bulldogs' pair in the third frame to balloon the margin to 12-6 and coast to the eight goal victory thanks to a 3-1 scoring advantage in the fourth period.
For UCLA, Virjee led the way with a game high four goals, while Scott tacked on a hat-trick and Rusty Morris (Sr., Altadena, Calif.) tossed in a pair to combine for nine of the Bruins' 15-goals.
Andrew Nelson (So., Baltimore, Md.) and Thomas Lazzarini (Sr., San Marino, Calif.) keyed Yale with three and two goals, respectively.
In cage, Keith Rubin (Jr., Bethesda, Md.) stopped four shots for Yale, while Mike Scott (Jr., La Canada Flintridge, Calif.) turned aside six shots.
