2010 Men's National Collegiate Club Schedule & Scores

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Daniel Nagy (Jr., Edgar, Hungary) and Marco Tschlenok (So., Berlin, Germany) both recorded hat-tricks to share Player of the Game honors as the No. 8 ranked Lions of Lindenwood University stopped No. 17 Yale University 14-4 to qualify for the fifth place game of the 2010 Men's National Collegiate Club Championship at Southern Utah University.

The victory moves the Lions into a 10:15 a.m. meeting with No. 3 Arizona State University on Sunday, November 14 in the fifth place game.  Yale will meet No. 11 University of Colorado at 9:00 a.m. in the first of six games on the day for seventh place.

Lindenwood never trailed in the game as Nagy lighted up the scoreboard with a tally 15 seconds into the first period.  Following a equalizer goal by Paul Orland (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) with 4:03 remaining in the period, Lindenwood took over for the remainder of the first and much of the second period.

Tschlenok (2:28) and Ali Campbell (Sr., Dunfermine, Scotland) (00:10) finished off the first period to give the Lions a 3-1 lead.  In the second period, the scoring blizzard continued as Brett Heniken (Fr., St. Louis, Mo.) scored off an man-up chance at 5:44 and Justin Bowers (Sr., Grandville, Mich.) cannoned a shot into the cage at 4:35 to build the margin to 5-1.

Yale closed to within three at 5-2 on the heels of an advantage tally by Orland at 3:44, but consecutive markers by Sharn Appel (Sr., Harare, Zimbabwe) and Nagy at the 2:41 and 1:51 marks not only closed the gap, but expanded the margin to five at 7-2.

The Bulldogs appeared to gain some momentum in the final 82 seconds of the half as David Skophammer (Jr., Palos Verdes, Calif.) rattled the iron at 1:12 and 20 seconds to close to within 7-4, but the Lions clawed back with a man-up goal at the horn by Tschlenok for an 8-4 lead at the break.

Lindenwood continued to pour it on in the second half with three more markers in both the third and fourth periods to outscore Yale 6-0 in the final 14 minutes of play.

For the Lions, Enrique Vera (Jr., Orlando, Fla.) finished with nine saves in taking the victory.  Keith Rubin (Jr., Bethesda, Md.) swatted aside five shots for Yale.
