CWPA Releases 2010 Men's Collegiate Club Florida Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) has released the schedule for the 2010 Men's National Collegiate Club Florida Division.  The University of Miami in Miami, Fla. and Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. will host the two regular season tournaments on September 18-19 and October 2-3, respectively, before the division championship is decided at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. on October 23-24.

Comprised of Florida International University, Florida State, the University of Central Florida, Florida "A", Florida "B" and Miami, the Florida Division will feature 24 regular season games and 11 championship contests as the teams will battle for a berth to the 2010 National Collegiate Club Championship at Southern Utah University.

In the history of the division, Florida and Florida International have dominated play with the Gators (2002, 2003, 2008) and Golden Panthers (2007, 2009) combining for all five titles.

Overall, both Florida and FIU hold five division titles as the Florida Division reformed with the Southeast Division for the 2004-06 seasons.  In 2000 and 2001, the Gators captured the Southeast crown before the Florida Division split-off, while FIU claimed the 2004, 2005 and 2006 titles during the Sunshine State institutions' second appearance in the Southeast standings.

Unlike last season, only the division champion will advance to the National Collegiate Club Championship.  In 2009, both division champion Florida International and host site Florida made the 16-team field held at the Gators' home pool in Gainesville.
