No. 16 Texas A&M Corrals No. 17 Boston College 6-1 to Advance to National Collegiate Club 13th Place Game

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Laura Peterson (Jr., Houston, Texas) netted a hat-trick to lead No. 16 Texas A&M University to a 6-1 victory over No. 17 Boston College at the 2010 National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Arizona. 

The win places the Aggies into the 13th place game at 10:10 a.m. on Sunday, while the Eagles will compete in the 15th place contest at 9:00 a.m, with both games at Hillenbrand Pool on the campus of Arizona.

The game was a story of scoring runs as the Aggies ran out to a 3-0 lead, BC's Lisa Stebbins (Jr., Portsmouth, N.H.) contributed a man-up goal with 4:34 left in the third period, and Texas A&M closed the game with three consecutive scores for the 6-1 final.

Stephanie Payne (Gr., Houston, Texas) opened the scoring in the first period with a man-up goal at the 1:03 mark before Peterson tacked on an even-strength marker to give Texas A&M a 2-0 lead at halftime.  The margin expanded to 3-0 at the 5:16 mark of the third period when Peterson added a man-up goal before Stebbins goal trimmed the margin back to two scores.

Texas A&M returned the lead to three by the end of the period as Maryann Moyer (So., Houston, Texas) dumped in a shot with 1:30 left to insulate the margin of victory.

In the fourth period, Courtney Saint (Jr., Houston, Texas) and Peterson chipped in goals at 6:10 and 3:06, respectively, to finish out the contest.

In goal, Erin Kasparek (Jr., Houston, Texas) made 15 saves to pick up the win, while BC's Lia Breunig (Jr., Walnut Creek, Calif.) notched nine saves.
