CWPA Releases 2010 Women's Varsity Western Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) has released the schedule of games for the 2010 Women's Varsity Western Division. Featuring Gannon University, Mercyhurst College, University of Michigan, Indiana Univeristy and Salem International University, the majority of the teams' league games will be completed during tournaments to ease the travel burden on the teams.

League competition will begin on March 12 when Salem International, Gannon and Mercyhurst travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan to take on the host Wolverines of Michigan as part of an invitational.  One week later in Erie, Pennsylvania, Mercyhurst will host Salem International while Gannon will host Salem and Mercyhurst on March 19 in conjunction with the Penn State Behrend Invitational.

Salem International, Gannon and Mercyhurst will then hit the road to to Bloomington, Indiana for a date with Indiana on March 27 as part of the Hoosiers' invitational.  The regular season will wrap-up on April 3 when Michigan hosts Indiana in a game which could be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

The teams will all converge on Michigan once again on April 24-25 for the Western Division Championship Tournament with the top two finishing teams advancing to the CWPA Eastern Championship against the best two teams from both the Southern and Northern Divisions, in addition to two at-large selections. The victor of the Eastern Championship, set for April 30-May 2 at the University of Maryland,will advance to the 2010 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship scheduled for May 14-16 at San Diego State University.

Game times and dates for all regular season games are tentative and could change as the season progresses due to pool availability and other issues.
