Navy Named Men's Varsity Team of the Decade (2000-09)

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The United States Naval Academy was recently voted the "Team of the Decade" by visitors to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) website during the week of December 14-18. The nine-time Eastern Champion Midshipmen appeared in eight Eastern title games during the decade with five championships (2000, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008).

From 2000-09, the Midshipmen recorded a 220-85 mark for a .721 winning percentage, including nine seasons with 20-or-more wins as Navy advanced to the 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Eastern Championship title games.

At Easterns, the Mids recorded a 25-5 mark with five championships to accompany a third (2004), a fifth (2001) and three second (2002, 2005, 2009) marks .

In non-conference championships, the Mids advanced to the 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship games, taking the 2009 crown with a 13-7 victory over Princeton University.

At the NCAA Championship, Navy went 1-9 placing fourth in 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2008, while finishing third in 2007 thanks to a 7-6 victory over Loyola Marymount University.
