CWPA to Broadcast Entire 2009 Men's Eastern Championship This Weekend Over Internet

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) has reached an agreement with Stretch Internet to provide live, streaming video of the league's 2009 men's postseason championships.

This weekend the CWPA will provide live coverage of all 12-games of the Men's Eastern Championship on Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22.

Featuring the four qualifying teams from both the Northern and Southern Divisions, the eight-team field will battle to decide which program is the CWPA's varsity champion and earns the league's automatic bid to the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship at Princeton University on December 5-6.

Competition and streaming begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday when two-time defending league champion and Southern Division No. 1 seed the United States Naval Academy takes on Northern Division No. 4 seed Iona College.   First round action will continue as Northern Divsiion No. 2 seed Fordham Unviersity clashes with Southern Division No. 3 seed Johns Hopkins University at 1:00 p.m., Northern Division No. 1 seed Brown University meets Southern Division No. 4 seed Bucknell University at 2:30 p.m. and Northern Division No. 3 seed Massachusetts Institute of Technology takes on Southern Division No. 2 seed Princeton University at 4:00 p.m.

More games are on tap for Saturday as the teams will meet in championship and consolation semifinals before the placement games on Sunday.

Access to each individual contest through Stretch Internet costs $10 per event. Viewers can also purchase an individual tournament pass for $25 per sport which grants viewers access to every available broadcast during the weekend.

The first collegiate water polo conference in the nation to offer live streaming of games, the CWPA has previously covered the Division III National Collegiate Club Championship from Bowdoin College and the National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Florida the previous two weekends.
