Navy's Kyle Wertz Named November 2 Men's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- 2008 Eastern Championship Most Valuable Player Kyle Wertz (So., San Diego, Calif./) of the No. 12-nationally ranked United States Naval Academy added to his list of accomplishments by scoring eight goals last week against George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University to pick up the November 2 Southern Division Player of the Week award.
He tallied three markers in a 15-10 victory over Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, then tallied five in a 13-11 victory over George Washington University which secured a share of the Southern Division-East Region title for the Midshipmen.
A 2008 All-America Honorable Mention selection, Wertz now has 37 goals on the season in 21 games, and surpassed the 50-point plateau on the year following a freshman season in which he tallied 48 goals and 15 assists for 63 points.
