Johns Hopkins' Alex Whittam Named October 19 Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins University freshman Alex Whittam (Hillsborough, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) notched five goals and three assists to go along with eight steals and five ejections drawn in four games to earn the October 19 Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award. The award marks his second ROTW honor as he was previously recognized as the September 14 Rookie of the Week.
In a 13-8 loss to No. 18-ranked Bucknell University, he scored a goal with an assist, two steals and an ejection drawn before contributing a goal, steal and ejection drawn in an 11-5 victory over Iona College. Against No. 17 Princeton University, he tacked on a goal with three steals and a pair of ejections drawn before concluding his weekend with pairs of goals and assists with one ejection drawn in an 11-10 loss to No. 15 United States Air Force Academy.
