Arizona State University's Sam Grucky Named October 12 Southwest Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Arizona State University's Sam Grucky (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) scored only one goal last week, but made it count as he came off the bench as a late substitute to tally the game-winner in an 11-10 victory over No. 5-nationally ranked University of Arizona to earn the October 12 Southwest Division Player of the Week award. The victory gave ASU the No. 1 seed for the division championship at home on October 24-25.

Against the Wildcats, he netted the winning goal on one end of the tank before dropping back on defense and blocking the eventual tying goal in the closing seconds on the contest to preserve the victory and help ASU to an 8-0 regular season mark.

Overall, he helped Arizona State down University of New Mexico (16-1 W), University of Arizona "B" (21-5 W), Northern Arizona University (11-4 W) and Arizona as the No. 7-ranked Sun Devils will seek to capture their second consecutive Southwest title next week in the division championship tournament.
