Universal Sports to Carry 2016 Olympic Announcement Live on Friday
LOS ANGELES, Calif.
-- Universal Sports and UniversalSports.com will air and
live-stream NBC5 News Chicago's coverage of the Friday, October 2,
announcement of the winning bid city for the 2016 Summer Olympic
Games. The unprecedented national television coverage of the
bid city announcement will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. ET (9
a.m. - 1 p.m. Chicago time), and may be extended if Chicago wins
the bid. The announcement itself will take place in
Copenhagen, Denmark. President Obama is expected to attend in
support of Chicago's bid, along with the heads of state
representing the other finalist cities of Madrid, Rio de Janeiro
and Tokyo.

are impactful within the Olympic framework, the IOC announcement
awarding the 2016 Summer Games to one of these great international
