Bucknell's Nick Donahue Named September 28 Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University goalie Nick Donahue (Sr., Brooklyn, N.Y./Lawrenceville) made 28 saves with 16 goals allowed for a .636 save percentage in wins over No. 20-nationally ranked Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University and No. 17 Princeton University at home to earn the September 28 Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week award.
On Friday, September 25, he blocked away 13 shots and allowed five goals in an 8-5 victory over No. 20 Johns Hopkins as the victory avenged an 11-10 loss to the Blue Jays during the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship tournament last weekend at Princeton University.
A day later, he grabbed three saves and allowed two goals in the first half before retiring for the game in a 14-7 victory over George Washington University. He wrapped up his weekend by leading the Bison to a 10-9 victory over Princeton University by controlling 12 saves and allowing nine goals in a 10-9 victory over the No. 17 ranked Tigers.
On the year, Donahue leads Bucknell with 75 saves and a .536 save percentage, a mark higher than his career save percentage of .524, as he has appeared in each of the team's 14 games, including 11 starts.
