Gannon Stops Salem International 12-7 in CWPA Southern Division Action

SALEM, W.Va. -- The Gannon men's water polo team raced out to a 7-2 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 12-7 victory Sunday afternoon at Salem International.

Gannon led 7-2 after one period, before going to halftime with a 9-3 edge. The Golden Knights extended their lead to 12-5 after three quarters. Salem International scored the contest's only two goals of the final quarter to account for the final 12-7 score.

John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), Dmitriy Simonoff (Vernon Hills, Ill./Stevenson), Greg Naranjo (Coral Springs, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) and Phil Myrick (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) scored two goals each.

Ben Syme (Victoria, B.C./Claremont Secondary), Ben Feasley (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery Blair), David Landry (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and Rob Bullion (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) completed the scoring with one goal apiece. Neal Zoellick (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) made six saves in goal.

Gannon improved to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) with Sunday's victory. Salem International dropped to 0-3 overall and within the conference.
