Varsity Northern Division Schedule to Commence on September 16 as Harvard Faces MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The 2009 Varsity Northern Division schedule will begin on Wednesday, September 16 when Harvard University (1-6) will host cross-town rival Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1-7) at 7:30 p.m. in the division opener for both squads.

After starting 0-3 at the MIT Invitational, the Harvard earned its first victory of the season a week later at the Princeton Invitational as the team topped George Washington by a 12-7 margin. Mike Katzer led the Crimson scoring with four goals against the Colonials, while Alex Thompson and Jeff Lee each tallied two markers in support of goalie Alexandre Popp, who made eight saves to earn the victory.

MIT also picked up its first win of the year at the Princeton Invitational over the weekend, as the Engineers downed George Washington, 10-7, to snap a seven-game losing streak to start the season.

The game marks the first of six regular season home contests for Harvard, which will also host the CWPA Northern Division Championship on November 7-8.
