2009 Washington & Jefferson College Men's Schedule

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College head coach Vaughan Smith recently announced the Presidents' 2009 men's water polo schedule. Beginning on September 19 at Gannon University and Penn State University-Behrend, W&J will take on some of the East Coast's best teams with hopes of reaching the 2009 Eastern Championship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in November.

The slate of games will begin on September 19-20 as the Presidents travel to Erie to take on Gannon and Penn State-Behrend on the 19th before moving over to Mercyhurst College on the 20th for three Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division games.

Following back-to-back home games versus Gannon and Mercyhurst on September 25 and 26, respectively, and an away game at Salem International University on the 26th, W&J will move further west to compete in the Claremont Convergence in California on October 2-3.

Upon returning home to Pennsylvania, the squad will have a break before taking on Penn State-Behrend (October 17) and Salem International (October 18), and hosting the 2009 Division III Eastern Championship tournament with Johns Hopkins University, Connecticut College and  Penn State-Behrend on October 24-25 to wrap-up the regular season.

The postseason will begin two weeks later as Washington & Jefferson joins the other division schools at the 2009 CWPA Southern Division Championship hosted by Bucknell University.  If the Presidents finish among the top four teams at Southerns, the squad will continue the year in Cambridge, Massachusetts as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will host the CWPA's Eastern Championship on November 20-22 with the league's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship on the line.
