CWPA Releases 2009 Men's Southeast Club Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association has released the 2009 Southeast Division schedule for the upcoming mens season. The University of Tennessee, University of Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Clemson University, Vanderbilt University and Auburn University will compete in the division this year with eyes on winning the title and advancing to the 2009 National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Florida.

On September 18-20, the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee will host the first division event of the year before regular season play wraps up on October 3-4 at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina.

The champion and National Collegiate Club Championship automatic qualifier from the Southeast Division will be decided on October 24-25 at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia as the five other Southeast Division teams will meet to take on the Bulldogs.

Georgia Tech has been the dominant team of late in the division taking the 2007 and 2008 championships over George and Tennessee, respectively.  Overall, Georgia Tech holds four division titles, including the 2002 and 2003 championships, to stand as the most successful program in division history.  Florida International University (2004-06) and the University of Florida (2000-01), which were part of the division from 2000 through 2001 and again from 2004 through 2006 until leaving to form the Florida Division, are the only other teams to win a Southeast Division title.
