Johns Hopkins University Announces Class of 2014 Recruiting Class

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Johns Hopkins water polo head coach Ted Bresnahan announces his 2010 recruiting class, which features eight players who will compete for spots on the 2010 team. Hopkins claimed its 12th Division III Eastern Championship and tallied third-place finishes at the ECAC and Southern Division Championships in 2009.

Wes Heeter (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos), a lefty from the Stanford Water Polo Club, is a four-time first team all-league selection and a two-time league MVP for Los Gatos. A member of the 2007 Pacific Zone and Pacific Zone Premier League, Heeter has also gained international experience in Hungary and Spain. He swam for Los Gatos, earning All-America honors in the 200 Free Relay in 2009.

Following in his brother Michael's footsteps, will be Thomas de Lyon (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park). A two-time First Team All-Marmonte League selection, de Lyon scored 210 goals in his final two seasons and earned Second Team All-CIF honors as a senior. He captained both the swim and water polo teams and is a member of the Malibu Sharks Water Polo Club.

Also from California are Chance Fowler and Stephen Kingery, teammates and co-captains at Campolindo High School in Moraga, Calif. Fowler, a 6'-4" goalie, played for the Lamorinda and Diablo Water Polo Clubs. A two-time DFAL all-league and All-NCS selection, he was also a Pacific Zone All-Star selection and an AP Scholar award recipient. Kingery also played for the Diablo Water Polo Club team and is a member of the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Northern California Regional Team. He earned Second Team All-NCS, First Team All-DFAL and Pacific Zone All-Star team honors as a senior. Kingery was an All-America swimmer for Campolindo in the 200 and 400 Free Relay and helped the team to four straight NCS championships.

Kevin Zepfel (Tustin, Calif./Beckman) comes to Hopkins from the SET Water Polo Club. He captained the Beckman team to its first Division I CIF playoff appearance in school history and holds the school record for goals scored. He earned First Team All-Pacific Coast League and all-city honors and was named to the Orange County All-Star team. Zepfel comes from a water polo family as he has cousins that play or have played at Harvard University, George Washington University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and the University of Southern California.

Conor Flemming (Mill Valley, Calif./Marin Academy) wraps up the California contingent. Flemming, a two-time captain and team MVP, led Marin Academy to the REL League title as a senior. He twice earned First Team All-REL honors in both water polo and baseball. Flemming played his club water polo for the Marin WPC.

Coming to Hopkins from Wayne, Pa. is Chase Hamilton (Episcopal Academy). Hamilton is a member of both the water polo and swim teams at Episcopal and played club water polo for the Greater Philadelphia WPC. He led the water polo team to the Inter-ac league title his senior year. Hamilton earned All-Inter-ac and All-Main Line honors as a junior and senior as well as All-Eastern Prep honors as a junior.

Bringing some international experience with him will be Jake Gilette, from Trinidad & Tobago. Gilette is a starting utility player on the Trinidad & Tobago National team and will represent his country in the Pan Am games next summer in Guadalajara, Mexico.
