Brown's Lauren Presant Named to Spring Academic All-Ivy Team

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Brown University's Lauren Presant (Sr., Poway, Calif./Poway) garnered her second Spring Academic All-Ivy League accolade as she is among 80 men and women who hold a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team at an Ivy League institution.

To be eligible, athletes must be starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team at an Ivy League institution with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages.  Each Ivy League institution (Brown University, Columbia University, Darthmouth College, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Yale University) nominated five men and women from its eligible student-athletes for honors.

A Human Biology major, Presant helped the Bears claim the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship, while earning All-Northern Division and All-Eastern Championship First Team honors.  She tallied a a team-high 86 goals and dished out 34 assists.

The All-Northern Division honor marked her third consecutive First Team nod.  A two-time CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week this season, she was a second team All-East selection in 2008 and hoisted the 2009 Northern Division Most Valuable Player award.  In addition, she currently holds the Brown school record in goals in a career (341) and goals in a season (100).

Over the past two seasons, she posted 186 goals, including a school-record 100 as a junior in 2009, with 88 assists.

She is the fifth Collegiate Water Polo Association student-athlete to earn Academic All-Ivy honors during the academic year joining Princeton University's Douglas Wigley (Sr., Portola Valley, Calif./Sacred Heart) and Mark Zalewski (Sr., St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood), Brown's Kent Holland (Sr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) and Harvard University's Egen Atkinson (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani School) who were among 80 student-athletes recognized with Fall 2009-10 Academic All-Ivy honors.

The five athletes were the only honorees from a non-Ivy League sport as water polo is not a sanctioned competition by the Ivy League.
