John-Claude Wright Named 2009 George Washington Men's Water Polo Team MVP

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- John-Claude Wright (Sr., Pembroke Pines, Fla./Williston Northampton) was named the men's water polo team's Most Valuable Player at George Washington University's annual Senior Honors Luncheon.

He concluded a standout four-year career with one of the finest seasons in program history this past fall, totaling 109 points on 71 goals and 38 assists to earn Second Team All-Southern Division honors from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).

His 109 points were the fifth-most in one season at GW and his 203 career goals rank fifth all-time at the University. Wright, who also ranks second all-time in field blocks and seventh in both assists and steals, excelled in the classroom as well, earning a spot on the CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team in three of his four seasons.
