Princeton's Brittany Zwirner Named May 3 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Princeton University's  Brittany Zwirner (Fr., Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) scored five goals to lead the Tigers to a third place finish at the 2010 Eastern Championship and earn the May 3 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.

The recognition marks the fourth time Zwirner has picked up the Rookie of the Week accolade this season as she previously garnered the award on February 22, March 15 and April 12.

Over the weekend at the University of Maryland's Eppley Recreation Center, she posted a solo marker in a 10-8 victory over Southern Division Champion and No. 19-ranked Bucknell University in the opening round, before contributing a pair of scores in a 12-8 semifinal loss to Western Division Champion and No. 7-ranked the University of Michigan.  In the third place game, Zwirner keyed the Tigers to an 11-7 upset of Northern Division Champion and No. 11-ranked Hartwick College to record the program's highest finish at the Eastern Championship since placing second in 2007.

Overall, she concludes the season with 50 goals to finish second on the team behind  the 57 goals postes by teammate Phoebe Champion (Sr., Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto).

The victory over Hartwick marked Princeton's 20th of the season as the Tigers conclude the 2010 season at 20-10 with a runner-up mark in the Southern Division.
