Hartwick's Lily Martinez Named May 3 Women's Varsity Northern Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Hartwick College's Lily Martinez (Fr., Commerce, Calif./Montebello) scored five goals to lead all Northern Division first-year players in scoring at the 2010 Eastern Championship hosted by the University of Maryland and earn the May 3 Women's Varsity Northern Division Rookie of the Week award.
She posted single goals against both the University of Maryland (13-12 W OT) and then No. 14-ranked Indiana University (8-7 L) in the first two rounds of the tournament, before adding a hat-trick with three goals in an 11-7 third place game loss to Princeton University.
The award marks Martinez's fifth Rookie of the Week nod as she previously garnered the honor on February 15, February 22, March 22 and April 12.
The 2010 Northern Division Rookie of the Year, she concludes her first collegiate season with 23 goals and 48 assists for 71 points with 66 steals and 31 kickouts drawn.
