CWPA Featured in Latest Editions of NCAA Champion and Athletic Management Magazines

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) is making a name for itself as a leader among collegiate athletic conferences, both in and out of the sport of water polo, as the league is featured in the Spring 2010 edition of NCAA Champion magazine and the April/May edition of Athletic Management.

In this quarter's NCAA Champion, CWPA commissioner Dan Sharadin and Princeton University head coach Luis Nicolao discuss the latest rules changes to quell rough play and regarding suspensions in the sport of water on page 17.  The article, which highlights the tougher standards implemented by the CWPA and subsequently the NCAA Rules Committee, is one of two mentions of the league and the sport in the magazine.

The league and the sport as a whole receive maximum exposure in a two-page article on the new CWPA Division III structure on the women's side of the league.  The article, which includes comments from Pennsylvania State University-Behrend Athletic Director Brian Streeter and head coach Joe Tristan, as well as oversight from University of Michigan head coach Matt Anderson, marks the first feature article on the sport in the history of the NCAA Champion magazine.

According to the NCAA, Champion magazine illuminates its readers about the most important issues facing intercollegiate athletics while also promoting the thousands of quality people who support college sports each day. Each issue of Champion recaps NCAA news from the previous three months, focusing on the relevant NCAA issues and top people within the organization.

This quarter's NCAA Champion is available here, or on newstands and booksellers around the globe.

In addition to the press coverage in the NCAA Champion, the league received mention and a photo of Connecticut College's Phoebe Bakanas in the April/May edition of Athletic Management.

The league and Bakanas are noted for the creation of the Division III group and the impact that is has created and brought about in the addition of women's sports in collegiate athletic departments.

The article is available here, while the complete magazine is available at finer booksellers in the United States.

Published six times a year by BPA Worldwide, Athletic Management is the premier journal of information on the topic of interscholastic and intercollegiate sports dealing with the issues of today and the problems of tomorrow with commentary and articles authored by the leaders in the industry.
