CWPA Releases 2010 Varsity All-Conference Teams
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) has released the list of Women's Varsity All-Conference Teams for the 2010 season. The Northern, Southern, Western and Division III teams, Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year picks are selected by the head coaches in each division.
In the Northern Division, Hartwick College dominated the selections earning two first-team picks and four second team selections, along with the Player of the Year (Kirsten Hudson), Coach of the Year (Alan Huckins) and Rookie of the Year (Lily Martinez).
Princeton University received only one first team selection, but made it count as Player of the Year Phoebe Champion tops three Bucknell University players, a pair from George Washington University and one from the University of Maryland. In addition, Bucknell's John Abdou garnered Coach of the Year and Maryland's Allison Campbell picked up Rookie of the Year accolades.
The Western Division teams revolve around Ann Arbor, Michigan as four Wolverines earned first team recognition. Among the group, Leah Robertson picked up Player of the Year honors and head coach Matt Anderson garnered Coach of the Year notice. Mercyhurst's Lisett Calderon earned Rookie of the Year notice.
Finally, on the Division III team Grove City College earned three first team nods, while Amanda Thompson, Amanda Johnston and Jon Miller were recognized with Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year notice.
