Bucknell's Tara Murao Named April 26 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Tara Murao (Fr., Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) of Bucknell University posted a goal, an assist and four ejections drawn to help the Bison claim the program's first Southern Division Championship and earn the April 26 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.
She contributed a point in both of the Bison's Southern Division Championship games at Princeton University over the weekend as she netted an assist in a 10-2 first round victory over George Washington University on Saturday, before tossing in a goal with four ejections drawn in an 11-9 title game win against the host and No. 19-nationally ranked Tigers on Sunday.
The award marks her second Rookie of the Week nod as she was previously recognized on March 29. To date, she has 11 goals and 18 assists on the season for 29 points to rank among the leading first-year scorers in the conference.
Bucknell will continue the season this weekend at the Eastern Championship at the University of Maryland. The Bison were awarded the fourth seed in the eight-team field and will take on Princeton in a rematch of the division title game 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30 in first round action. Following second round competition on Saturday, May 1, the tournament will conclude on Sunday, May 2 with the seventh, fifth, third and championship games.
