Grove City's Amanda Johnston Named April 26 Women's Varsity Division III Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Grove City College goalie Amanda Johnston (Fr., San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) made 25 saves over three games to lead the Wolverines to the 2010 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship and earn the April 26 Division III Rookie of the Week award.

An All-Tournament second team selection, she contributed nine stops in a 16-6 victory over Chatham University in the first round, before posting 10 saves against  Washington & Jefferson College to earn a berth in the first-ever CWPA Division III Championship title game. 

In the title tilt, she notched six saves in a come-from-behind 8-7 victory as the Wolverines claimed the league title and an automatic berth in the Division III National Championship at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisc. on May 7-9.
