Michigan's Alex Adamson Picks Up April 19 Women's Varsity Western Division Rookie of the Week Honors
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- University of Michgian goalie Alex Adamson (Fr., Coronado, Calif./Coronado) posted 20 saves with eight goals allowed to anchor the No. 7-ranked Wolverines to wins over George Washington University and a pair against the University of Maryland. For her performance, she was named the April 19 Women's Varsity Western Division Rookie of the Week.
The award marks the fourth-time Adamson has received recognition from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) league office as she previously took home the February 22 and March 8 Rookie of the Week awards, along with the April 5 Defensive Player of the Week accolade.
Facing two teams in a three-game East Coast swing in preparation for the Western Division Championship this weekend at Michigan, the Wolverines used eight saves and a steal by Adamson to handle Maryland 9-3 in College Park. She added seven saves with three assists and three goals allowed in 16 minutes of work in a 12-6 defeat of George Washington, before wrapping up the campaign with five saves, two assists and a steal with a pair of goals permitted over 16 minutes of an 11-7 win at Maryland.
To date, she has 106 saves, 26 assists, 14 steals and 77 goals allowed in 424 minutes of work.
