Bucknell's Alison Carter Named April 19 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University goalie Alison Carter (Sr., Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor) posted 17 saves in a 1-1 week for the Bison to earn the April 19 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award and help her team clinch the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Southern Division Championship at Princeton University.

The award marks Carter's third Defensive Player of the Week nod this season as she previously picked recognition on February 15 and March 15.

Against No. 11-nationally ranked Hartwick College, she made eight saves with 14 goals allowed and three steals in a 14-12 loss at home. 

Her most important game of the week came on the road as she turned away nine shots with 10 goals allowed, a steal and an assist in an 11-10 victory over the University of Maryland in College Park. The victory helped Bucknell lock-up the No. 1 seed for the Southern Division Championship on Saturday-Suunday, April 24-25 at Princeton University. 

In addition, her 17 saves pushed her season total to 204 stops as she became the third player in program history to post two 200-save seaons.

Through the conclusion of the regular season, she leads the team in steals (50) and now stands third in caeer saves (664) at Bucknell.
