Princeton Earns No. 2 Seed for Southern Division Championship with 9-7 Victory at George Washington
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Phoebe Champion scored three goals and Kristen Ward made nine saves to lead the Princeton University women's water polo team to a 9-7 victory over George Washington University. The win clinches a share of the Southern Division regular season title and the second seed for the Southern Championship next weekend at Princeton.
Princeton led 7-2 at the midway point and scored one goal in each of the final two quarters to maintain its advantage. While Champion scored three goals, five other Tigers scored at least one goal. Lauren Brunner scored twice, while Carolina Ardila, Tanya Wilcox, Saranna Soroka and Brittany Zwirner each scored once.
Princeton will be the number two seed, just behind Bucknell University which clinched the top seed with an 11-10 victory at the University of Maryland.
