Grove City's Amanda Johnston Named April 12 Women's Varsity Division III Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Grove City College goalie Amanda Johnston (Fr., San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) made 39 saves in five games, including a weekend high 10 versus Connecticut College, to help the Wolverines clinch the No. 1 seed for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship and earn honors as the April 12 Women's Varsity Division III Rookie of the Week.

The award marks her second consecutive Rookie of the Week nod as she also picked up the April 5 honor.

Playing in the final CWPA Division III event of the regular season, she recorded 10 saves against Connecticut (17-5 W), eight stops versus both Utica College (11-2 W) and Chatham University (15-8 W) and six saves against Pennsylvania State University-Behrend (12-3 W).  Johnston wrapped up the weeekend and the division regular season with seven blocks in a 12-5 victory over Washington & Jefferson College.
