Michigan's Lauren Colton Named April 5 Women's Varsity Western Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Freshman Lauren Colton (Tustin, Calif./Tesoro) of No. 8-nationally ranked the University of Michigan handed out two assists, collected two steals and drew a pair of ejections to earn notice as the April 5 Western Division Rookie of the Week and help the Wolverines clinch the Western Division regular season title with a 6-4 victory over No. 15 Indiana University.
The award marks her second accolade from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) leage office this season as she previously picked up honors as the February 8 Western Division Rookie of the Week.
On the season, she ranks fifth in goals (25) and sixth in assists (14) for the Wolverines for 39 points to aid a Wolverines' squad which extended its winning streak against CWPA Western Division opponents to 17 regular-season games and clinched the regular-season division title and the top seed at the 2010 CWPA Western Division Championship, which will be played on April 24 at Canham Natatorium.
